KT the director of The Vertical Studio beat 20,000 applicants to win a place
on the new Sky one series of The Gladiators. The series starts on the 11th May at
7pm.
It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for KT who first heard about the show
coming back to our screens in February. 20,000 applicants were whittled down to
1,200 for physical auditions, which only 200 passed. The auditions took place in
London and involved assort course, sprints, throwing, jumping, crab and
crocodile runs, to test our strength and agility, then 100 were asked in for an
interview to camera where you were asked about your training, life, work and
your past. It was a nail biting week before KT found out whether she had been
selected for a second physical audition. 40 girls were selected to take part in
the next audition, which involved, grappling, wrestling and strength. Every one
that was successful at this were asked to take a drugs test and a police check.
It was another 5 day before KT was told that she had been selected as one of the
final 16 girls to take part in the show.
Within
a 2 weeks KT was whisked away to Shepperton studios for 2 weeks back to back
training on all of the events in the show. It was a gruelling 2 weeks training
on the Duel, Hang Tough, The Gauntlet, The Wall, Hit and Run, The Pyramid,
Earthquake and power ball, but the best fun ever!!!!
The show will be running for the next 10 weeks. We are not sure yet of a date
when KT's show will be aired so please keep looking back for details of the
show.
The
Gladiators has been the best experience of KT's life and we would recommend to
any one that takes sport and fitness seriously to fill in an application for
next seasons show. She likened it to a physically demanding play ground for
adults.
